WHO WE ARE
This is a project run by two people, and the hostel reflects who we are, our values, and the way we believe hospitality should be.
Every detail here is personal: inScialla was built to be human, warm, and welcoming — made by people, for people. No big corporations, just a community.
Made by people, for people. No big corporations, just a community.
What we like
We want inScialla to provide a pleasant and respectful atmosphere for everyone, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, appearance, or place of origin.
We believe in Damon Albarn and Yorgos Lanthimos, in intersectional feminism, and in a free Palestine.
What we don’t
The opposite of Yorgos Lanthimos and Damon Albarn — so probably Michael Bay and Oasis.

FAQ
Something truly useful
What time can I check in? What happens if I arrive after midnight?
Check-in is available from 2:00 PM onwards. Early check-in is available from 12:00 PM for an extra €5. If you arrive in the evening, when reception is closed, we will send you a code and instructions to access the hostel.
And what about check-out?
Check-out is available until 11:00 AM. Late check-out is available until 1:00 PM for an extra €5. You are welcome to hang out in the common areas for longer — the important thing is to leave your bed and locker available.
Can I leave my backpack before check-in or after check-out?
Yes, on a dedicated shelf in the common area.
Before check-in, you can leave it from 11:00 AM onwards, because sloths sleep until then.
Are bed sheets included?
Always.
And towels?
You can rent a soft and generously sized towel (100×150 cm) for €3.
How big are the mattresses?
All mattresses are 90×200 cm, which means they are quite spacious. If you need even more room, we also have 3 French beds measuring 140×200 cm.
Are there power outlets near the beds?
All beds have a power outlet and a wall-mounted reading light.
Do the beds have curtains?
All lower beds have a movable curtain. For the upper beds, our engineer still hasn’t found a solution to install them. Suggestions are welcome.
Can I choose a lower bed, or does fate decide?
You can pay a €2 supplement to choose a lower bed instead of leaving it to chance. Like all the best things, it’s subject to availability — ask us as soon as possible.
Do you have lockers? Can a gigantic backpack fit inside?
We provide one lockable locker for each guest. Our lockers like to brag about being very quiet, but they do have standard dimensions: if you have a gigantic backpack, it might not fit. In that case, you can place it under or next to your bed.
Is there air conditioning, or do you sweat in authentic Sicilian mode?
We try to keep things authentic, but all dorms have air conditioning (two of them also have a ceiling fan). One of the common areas is air-conditioned too.
Can the Wi-Fi handle an entire streaming movie, or only messages from relatives?
We have a 2.5 Gbps connection, which means it’s really fast.
We still recommend replying to your relatives’ messages every now and then, though.
Can I do laundry?
We’re still working on it. We don’t know the exact date yet, but we will have a laundry area with a washing machine available for €5 and drying racks accessible to all guests (we already have the drying racks).
How far is the historic centre? And the sea?
The beach is a 5-minute walk away. The historic centre is 0 metres away.
Is the area safe at night?
In many years, nobody has even stolen our bike, which makes us feel pretty confident that it’s a very safe area.
Do you organise events at the hostel, or do we have to stare at each other in silence?
We’re working on events. In the meantime, you can use the turntable, have a beer together, or play chess, pool, or with our tiny foosball table.
We can also recommend a couple of places we personally like, but if you don’t enjoy them, please don’t blame us.
If I change my mind, can I cancel for free?
We offer flexible rates that allow you to cancel free of charge up to 5 days before check-in.
Can I book for large groups?
Yes. If you are 4 people or more, you can contact us and, if possible, we will apply a discount.
If I lose my locker key or destroy the towel, will something terrible happen?
No, you can sleep peacefully. But please try not to.
Is the hostel accessible? Are there stairs?
The hostel is located on the ground floor and there are no stairs or steps. All areas are accessible to guests with reduced mobility, but we recommend contacting us before booking to make sure the spaces meet your needs.
I’m queer. Can I feel safe inside the hostel?
You are welcome here! We do everything we can to make everyone feel safe and comfortable, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, appearance, or place of origin.
Are there age restrictions?
To stay with us, guests must be 18 years old or older, or be accompanied by an adult. Minors must be at least 12 years old.
Are pets allowed, or does the dog need to find another hostel?
Nobody really knows how much Lorena loves dogs, but we are not equipped to host living beings other than sloths.
Does the sloth in your logo have a name?
Thanks for asking. His name is Tomi, just like one of our rooms. If you want to know why, ask us when you arrive.
